Tribal chair insists no special favors for BIA members - 2004-02-26
As the FBI commenced investigating suspected conflicts of interest featuring Bureau of Indian Affairs regional officials Wednesday, the chair of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians stated there was no unique treatment of BIA officials who stood to benefit from their own actions and membership in the tribe.

As a result, original tribal associates have no representatives among the tribe's new leadership, which now is looking to construct a $100 million, 2,000-slot machine casino.
