Drug runner sentenced to 15 years - 2004-02-27
A worldwide drug runner who gambled over $1 million while trafficking heroin at Crown casino was yesterday imprisoned for at least 15 years.
Vinh Lac Lao provided major amounts of heroin from China to big-time gambler Ko Kong Tong, who operated a drug ring from his Crown Towers hotel room.

Judge Betty King expressed it was obscene that Lao inflicted misery by drug dealing at the same time as he gambled.
"You played for high stakes - you gambled and you lost. The punishment must match the crime," Judge King stated.

Two national unions declare intention to merge - 2004-02-27
Two national labor unions, both viewed as aggressive and strategic coordinators, will merge, their leaders reported yesterday.

The two unions have roughly 25,000 associates in this area, from the casino staff members in Atlantic City to public school cafeteria employees in Philadelphia to textile employees in the city and Pennsylvania suburbs.
