Licensing of Casino Board in Deliberation - 2004-02-27
Legends Casino could see a shutdown if its acting board of directors doesn't comply with federal regulations, according to a Yakama tribal leader.
The issue centers on the casino's directors, who haven't submitted to background checks or filed financial statements needed under a deal with the federal government.

As a result, none of the board members, who are responsible for supervising daily casino operations, hold federal gaming licenses.

Casino measure is under way - 2004-02-27
A casino measure should make it into the hopper today, one legislative day prior to the deadline for filing new proposals in the 2004 General Assembly.
The Louisville legislator endorsing the bill had expected to reach an agreement with horseracing tracks throughout private assemblies Thursday.

The parties agree conceptually to have casino-style gambling controlled by five racetracks and at four other land-based casinos, but are dealing with perfecting the legislative language, Elliston explained.
