Ellis Park excluded from casino proposal - 2004-02-27
Ellis Park has been excluded from a proposal that would permit casino gambling at nine sites across Kentucky, including Owensboro.
If the law were to pass the Kentucky General Assembly and be authorized by constituents in November, it would raise further inquires as to the future of the Henderson track.

According to a proposal brokered by state House Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark, D-Louisville, five of the nine casinos would be at tracks, which have long urged for casino-style betting to supplement horse race gambling.

N.Y. man taken into custody for beating at casino - 2004-02-27
Police took a Flushing, N.Y., man into custody Thursday after he was recorded on surveillance cameras in a casino elevator beating and robbing of a 68-year-old casino patron.

The victim had departed the baccarat region of Mohegan Sun in a motorized scooter and was followed into the elevator by Jiancheng Yuan, 40, of 146-08 Ave., Flushing.
