Kentucky Constituents Could Rule On Casinos - 2004-02-27
Kentucky could be one move closer to permit developed casino gambling.
A leading house democrat brought in a constitutional amendment Friday in Frankfort that would let constituents rule on the issue.

Officials imagine up to nine casinos and at least five of those would be owned by the state's horse tracks.
Casino's could produce over $400 million in annual revenue for the state.

Ottumwa leaders lobby for new casinos - 2004-02-27
Officials from Ottumwa and Wapello County gave up their government jobs for lobbying Thursday, urging for the Iowa legislature to remove the gambling moratorium.
The moratorium stops new casino licenses from being awarded in the state. Five Iowa counties have passed gambling referenda, though, putting pressure on the state to act. Last year the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission sent the issue to the legislature. That set up Thursday's daylong deliberation.
