No More New Gambling Permits in Iowa - 2004-02-27
Iowa legislators voted Thursday to permit Prairie Meadows and other racetracks to have table games like blackjack, but chose to prohibit new gambling licenses in counties that don't currently have one.

The agreement would permit table games like blackjack at all three racetracks, set a new casino tax that wouldn't provoke the state to lose money, pull cash and credit card machines off casino floors, and forgive $112.6 million in back taxes that the state owes to Iowa's three racetrack.

Dealer cheers for the customer - 2004-02-27
Eddie Steeves stated his customers sometimes name him "Fast Eddie" until he corrects them.
"I've been called everything in the book since I started dealing. I'm used to it," Eddie explained.

Eddie was just a restaurant employee at the Saddle West Hotel and Casino when one day, a casino pit boss asked him if he ever dealt cards. Some blackjack dealers go to a school. But for Eddie it was on-the-job training.
