Gambling legislation brought in - 2004-02-27
Legislation to introduce casino gambling to Kentucky was introduced Friday in both chambers of the General Assembly. Two ranking legislators expressed doubts right away regarding its odds.

The legislation imagines nine casinos -- five controlled by the state's horse tracks and four independent casinos elsewhere in the state.
Backers are going after a two-pronged approach, in spite of what seems to be tepid support in the House and Senate.

Plan would place casino within one hour of neighboring city - 2004-02-27
Casino-style gambling might be relocating a lot closer to Middle Tennessee.
Bills were brought into the Kentucky legislature yesterday that would permit five racetracks in that state to have casino permits, one as close as Kentucky Downs in Franklin, Ky., just across the state line on Interstate 65 — 41 miles from Nashville.

Eric Vanaman of Cottontown stated he likes the concept of placing a casino just up the highway.
