Premier permits beleaguered Sorbara to stay on - 2004-02-27
Premier Dalton McGuinty Thursday gambled the destiny of his four-month-old Liberal government on constituents accepting his ruling to permit Greg Sorbara to stay as Finance Minister despite his past as a director of a company that is the focus of probes by police and securities officials.

The 1,000-room resort, spa and casino in St. Kitts bought $32-million in goods and services from Royal Group during the past five years.

Harrah’s named finalist for Illinois casino license - 2004-02-27
Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., the company that controls Louisiana Downs and a one-third interest in Turfway Park, was among the three finalists chosen by the Illinois Gaming Board on Wednesday to buy the state’s final casino permit currently in the possession of bankrupt Emerald Casino.

Midwest Gaming and Development, led by developer Neil Bluhm, and Isle of Capri Casinos are the two additional finalists, bidding $360-million and $351-million, respectively.
