Hesperia voters voice opinion Tuesday regarding proposed Indian casino - 2004-02-29
It seems nearly each local in this High Desert city of 63,000 has an opinion on the proposed Indian casino.

After the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe of Death Valley publicized in July it wanted to construct a resort casino close to Interstate 15, hundreds of people participated in public hearings to speak for and against the concept.
Casino foes are not happy with his ruling.

Legislators want casino topic on ballot - 2004-02-29
Local legislators, including a Henderson senator, voiced general support Saturday for bills filed Friday that would permit Kentuckians to vote on whether casinos should be permitted in the state.

If constituents approve a constitutional amendment, it would clear the path for a plan worked out with Kentucky's horse racing trade that calls for four land-based casinos -- including one in Owensboro -- and five casinos at horse racing tracks in Louisville, northern Kentucky, Lexington, Franklin and Prestonsburg.
