Illinois gov. wants to contemplate Penn National’s casino bid - 2004-02-04
Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich informed participants at an education protest on Monday that, with the "proper safeguards," a state-owned casino in Rosemont could be great for the state.

Penn National Gaming Inc., the Pennsylvania-based company that controls Penn National Race Course and Charles Town Races, proposed to construct a $255-million casino using the state’s last casino license that the now-bankrupt Emerald Casino now holds.

Groom Weds in Hospital Following Abuse - 2004-02-04
Laura Moody received something black and blue for her wedding, but much to her dismay it was her groom.
With swollen and blackened eyes and morphine running through his veins to numb the pain from spleen surgery and broken ribs, Chris Pitchford fought Monday to say his vows through a feeding tube that had been put down his throat.

Both he and Moody, 18, had vowed the wedding would go on, less than 48 hours later when Pitchford, 23, reported he was beaten during a scuffle with strangers outside a Nevada casino at his bachelor party.
