Locals in northern Lake County have reason to be anxious about their approaching property tax bills.
Changes in the state’s property tax program will move much of the property tax burden from industries to homeowners, tax experts have revealed.
But that district's three cities also have a special resource: money from casino boats.
Tens of millions of dollars flow into Gary, Hammond and East Chicago from the floating gambling sites in each city, annually.
