If there was a time to contemplate chain-smoking again, it was Sunday afternoon.
Kings proprietors Joe and Gavin Maloof were part of a nerve-wracking, $1 million winner-take-all blackjack competition in a 48-person invitation-only affair at the Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino in Lakeside, near San Diego.

Joe Maloof proved to be a bit more fortunate, and wealthier, winning his final hand with a blackjack and pocketing the money before almost passing out from the whirlwind of it all.
