The public hearings that start tonight in Rock Island are likely to appear more like trial court than city council assemblies.
On one side, an attorney for RiverStone Group Inc. is intended to dispute that sand and gravel mining on Big Island will not hurt a thing.
Their ruling could have a major impact on the city’s destiny because Big Island mining is directly linked to the proposed $92 million relocation of Jumer’s Casino Rock Island.
