Iowa House Law: No More Gambling Licenses - 2004-03-01
Greatly anticipated gambling law passed by the Iowa House of Representatives Thursday did not include removing the moratorium on all new gaming licenses; leaving those hoping for a casino in Wapello County disappointed, yet remaining positive.

Local casino supporters are anticipating that when the bill goes through the senate, an amendment will be made to remove the license abolition, permitting more to be granted.

Tribes contest relaunching gambling compacts - 2004-03-01
No one was intending to hear what Gov. Pawlenty stated at the end of his State of the State address last month.

Casino gambling hasn't made anyone wealth at Red Lake. Most of the clients at the casino in the reservation's biggest community are tribal members. That's because the isolated site doesn't lure many visitors.
