I've only been to Las Vegas a few times, but I have many vivid recollections from those short trips... the Disney-esque castle spires of the Excalibur, and the beautiful horses running around an oval ring at breakneck speed in its basement.

I've never liked cheap buffets, and they were all that Vegas seemed to provide (well, some casinos had swanky, Continental restaurants, for high rollers likely to squander hundreds of dollars on a bottle of indifferently stored vintage wine and unlikely to be too critical of tough meat under congealing sauces).

Over 1,000 people protest a measure to outlaw slot machines in Minnesota Rallying on the state Capitol steps Tuesday, over 1,000 people protested a bill that would make slot machines illegal in Minnesota.

Among the protesters were more than 150 Northland casino staff members and American Indian tribal associations. American Indian and non-Indian casino employees later handed out hundreds of pink slips to legislators.
