Proposal prices increasing at gaming board's casino auction - 2004-03-10
Three companies looking to purchase Illinois' 10th casino license hiked their proposals during an auction Wednesday put on by the Illinois Gaming Board.
Harrah's, which bid $375 million prior to the auction, intends to build a casino, a hotel and restaurants in Waukegan.

Two other finalists vying in the auction were Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., which originally bid $351 million to construct a casino in Rosemont, and Midwest Gaming and Entertainment LLC, which proposed $360 million to establish a casino and hotel in Des Plaines.

Sides conflict over casino bid at Rockaway - 2004-03-10
The fight over Rockaway Beach's proposed casino may be going for a statewide vote in November.
But several foes and one backer squared off Tuesday in the House Tourism and Cultural Affairs Committee.

He was the only foe who had time to testify against House Bill 1547, which would need countywide support for a proposed casino to be constructed anywhere in the state, but on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
