Casino full-year profit increases, sees progress in future - 2004-03-10
French retailer Casino (CASP) showed a near 11 percent increase in 2003 net profit on Thursday and said it expected operating profit to increase over 10 percent this year thanks to a rebound in its international business and growth in France.

France's second-largest listed supermarket group claimed net profit after goodwill rose to 492.3 million euros ($605.4 million) from 445.2 million euros in 2002, while operating profit rose to 1.070 billion euros from 966 million.

Accused swindle has bail - 2004-03-10
Bedford investment adviser Koji Goto was detained yesterday after a judge raised his bail to $1 million to hold him in an alleged $15 million investment swindle.

Acquaintances claim Goto was fond of gambling and frequently traveled to Foxwoods in a limousine supplied by the casino. He purportedly had an accumulation of expensive cars and gave the impression he was rolling in money.
