Updated 'racino' project in progress - 2004-03-10
A measure the Minnesota House passed last year to establish a casino at the Canterbury Park racetrack is being rewritten so it would generate additional money for the state during the current budget period.

Buesgens stated the rewritten measure would require Canterbury proprietors to advance payments that the state otherwise would not get until the 2006-07 budget period. Once the casino was constructed and fully operational, it would generate a calculated $75 million annually for the state.

Laughlin Town Board delays Emerald River venture vote - 2004-03-10
A vote to authorize a use permit for the future Emerald River project was postponed Tuesday despite encouragement from the developer.

The permit would have permitted a hotel/casino resort, a retail commercial development, five townhouse developments, three condominium/timeshare developments, a marina and a golf course with a clubhouse on 275 acres of property near Casino Drive.
