20th Casino Night accumulates funds for library - 2004-03-11
The Mary Vinson Memorial Library celebrated its 20th Casino Night anniversary by accumulating $16,000 to assist the summer reading program that will commence in May.
Director Lillie E. Crowe stated roughly 200 people attended the annual affair at the Milledgeville Country Club on Feb. 21.

The next fundraiser for the library will be the annual book fair on Sept. 11 at the library. The next Casino Night will be scheduled Feb. 12, 2005.

Shirakawa visited illegal casino frequently, but claims no gambling - 2004-03-11
Katsuhiko Shirakawa, an ex-home affairs minister and ex-chairman of the National Public Safety Commission, has confessed visiting an illegal casino in Tokyo under a false name -- but has refuted placing any wagers.

Ex-casino staff members spilled the beans on Shirakawa's visits in testimony adopted as evidence by the Tokyo District Court in the trial of the casino's 35-year-old ex-manager, who was convicted and given a suspended sentence.
