Casino acquisition at the final stage - 2004-03-12
Harrah's Entertainment and MTR Gaming Group finalized their long-delayed acquisition of Binion's Horseshoe on Thursday, setting the stage for an April 1 reopening and the World Series of Poker's last run at the legendary downtown property, Harrah's spokesman David Strow stated.

As part of the operating deal, Harrah's is set to begin the World Series of Poker's 35th anniversary season April 22 with a casino workers-only debut affair.

State gaming win increased in January - 2004-03-12
January's enhanced statewide casino winnings underscored a long-held canon of the gaming trade: Never underestimate the power of a high roller.

Nevada casinos claimed over $882 million in revenue in the first month of 2004, up 4.4 percent comparable with the $844.6 million reported for the same period a year ago, the state Gaming Control Board reported Thursday.
