Suspect waited to be alone with bartender prior to slaying - 2004-03-12
Kevin Martinette waited until everyone else departed the Odyssey Lounge early Monday morning, then purportedly beat the 70-year-old bartender to death in order to take his vehicle and $500 for an intended drive to California, according to a Metro Police report regarding his arrest.
Martinette also purportedly told Stafford he had safeguarded transportation for their drive to California -- Petropoulos' 1983 Mercury station wagon -- which he had parked at the California hotel-casino on Ogden Avenue.
