A measure that would subject a proposed Rockaway Beach casino to a countywide vote took one move closer to a committee vote Tuesday.

Casino foes, led by Branson business interests, intend to finish making pitches to associates of the House and Senate committees in the next two weeks.

Supreme Court listens to case of Indian casino agreements - 2004-03-16
The Michigan Supreme Court has heard arguments on whether state deals to make gambling legal on lands owned by four Michigan Indian tribes were properly authorized.

The case could impact the future of at least two casinos currently in existence and three more that are pending. It also could have implications for all 17 Indian casinos in the state.
