Sweeny implements prohibition on 8-liners - 2004-03-17
A six-month prohibition on new eight-liner machines in the city won’t stop current machines from operating for at least that long.
Eight-liner machines, similar to slot machines, are identified for their tic-tac-toe patterned grid that offers eight ways to win. State legislation changed in 1995 to permit novelty games that do not pay cash.
“That’s virtually having a casino in the middle of the city,” Stroud commented.
