Two of the casino suggestions now before our state lawmakers grabbed my attention. Rep. Linda Boudreau, R-Faribault, would establish a casino run by a new state agency with profits allocated to high school graduates for their college tuition.

Imagine a brand-spanking new Anoka County casino crowded at standing-room only, draining business from the Mille Lacs Reservation casinos. The Anoka casino funds will partly prop up the White Earth and Red Lake reservations in northern Minnesota.

Illinois governor demands casino auction analysis - 2004-03-17
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Wednesday called on the state's gaming board to perform a full, open and public review of their choice of Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. (ISLE) to establish a casino in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont.

Shares of Isle fell 5.6 percent, or $1.48 to close at $24.89 on Nasdaq in late trade as investors reacted to a potential hitch in the deal which is intended to create one of the most profitable casinos in the Midwest.
