Questions brought up regarding who receives reward money - 2004-03-18
The capture of the suspect in the deadly highway shooting spree has provoked questions regarding who should receive the $60,000 reward -- the man who identified him at a Las Vegas casino or family members who purportedly turned him in.

Conrad Malsom, an out-of-work salesman, identified McCoy after spotting him in a casino reading a newspaper article about himself. He later trailed McCoy's car at the motel where he was dwelling.

New twist on intentions for slots parlors - 2004-03-18
A Beaver County legislator has disclosed some potential new wrinkles for Western Pennsylvania in the ongoing deliberation about whether the state should make slot machines legal to reduce property taxes.

State Rep. Mike Veon, a Democratic leader in the attempt to expand gambling, stated yesterday that he and other policymakers envision three slot machine venues in the Pittsburgh region. However, all three could end up at horse racing tracks instead of having a casino in Downtown Pittsburgh, as Gov. Ed Rendell previously outlined.
