California Bill Targeted Towards Gambling Development - 2004-03-18
An effort to capture cash from Indian casinos could end in millions of dollars to be to the advantage of local police and child protective services in the cities of San Mateo and San Bruno — but officials aren't counting their coins just yet.

The Gaming Revenue Act of 2004 is one of four gambling initiatives targeted towards the November ballot. The initiative could permit slot machines at 11 card rooms and five race tracks statewide — including Bay Meadows in San Mateo and Artichoke Joe's in San Bruno— that currently have gaming licenses.

Trade Group Produces Tool Kit for Casinos - 2004-03-18
The Gaming Standards Association, an international trade organization comprised of major slot machine makers, has developed a "tool kit" that will assist the industry in developing standardized technology more rapidly.

The tool kit will allow manufacturers to integrate the back-office systems that communicate between machines and casino software systems before the games are submitted to state regulators for testing, trade group officials reported.
