Casino Challenge Far from Handled - 2004-03-18
Gov. Tom Vilsack stated Wednesday he believes it's too quick to write off the hopes of Iowa communities lobbying for new riverboat casinos, despite legislative setbacks.

Senators are contemplating a huge gambling bill authorized by the House that would change the industry's tax structure, offer table games to racetrack casinos and allow riverboats to remain docked. But the measure would also slap a moratorium on the issuance of new riverboat licenses.

Mississippi Board to Rule on Casino Education - 2004-03-18
The state College Board is intended to rule today whether to ask an attorney general's opinion on the University of Southern Mississippi providing a casino-related degree program.

Board member Bill Crawford claimed he has worries about the responsibility of board members if they take action and later find they are contradicting the law.
