Sheriff's department affair generates $20,000 for donations - 2004-03-19
San Bernardino County Sheriff Gary Penrod was present Thursday to donate $20,000 to local children's charities.

The money was gathered through the Desert Thunder affair, which is endorsed by the sheriff's department and featured a motorcycle rally to Buffalo Bills Hotel and Casino in Nevada.

Republican governors convene in Vegas, talk over campaign issues - 2004-03-19
The nation's Republican governors will target crucial battleground states as they seek to bolster their ranks this year and assist President Bush win re-election, the vice-chair of the Republican Governors Association reported Friday.

During the two-day assembly at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino, the governors stated they also deliberated other issues, including tort reform, particularly for medical malpractice and construction defects.
