Big Island face-off has nothing to do with gambling - 2004-03-02
Tonight’s hearing in Rock Island City Council chambers has to do with many things.
But it has nothing to do with gambling.

There will be various hearings for that, when citizens can analyze the incentives that could help Casino Rock Island relocate from its downtown riverfront to a gravel-pit pond controlled by Riverstone Group close to Interstate 280 and Illinois 92. Riverstone claims it will offer the site to Casino Rock Island only if mining is permitted on Riverstone property on Big Island.

Judge speaks on racing license - 2004-03-02
A Penobscot County Superior Court justice has given legal standing to all of the parties that asked for it with regard to the Maine Harness Racing Commission 's 4-0 ruling last month to issue a conditional racing license to Penn National Gaming Inc.

Getting a racing license is a crucial step in Penn National's plan to have a racino , or racetrack casino, in Bass Park. The facility would blend harness racing with year-round entertainment, particularly slot machines.
