RI gives go-ahead on casino development pact - 2004-03-22
The Rock Island City Council influenced the Casino Rock Island’s $90 million relocation plans to move a major step forward Monday with an overwhelming authorization of a development deal, which features a tax increment financing district.

Mayor Mark Schwiebert stated the city and casino had weathered an altering gambling market over the years to come to this moment. “We think it will serve great good for the future of our community,” he commented.

Blagojevich asks for analysis of new casino license - 2004-03-22
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich stated Monday that the public does not trust Illinois gaming regulators with regards to a casino license in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont and that he wants an independent examination of the process.

Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., the proprietor of the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf and the Rhythm City Casino in Davenport, won an auction last week for an inactive Illinois gaming license in bankruptcy court. Isle of Capri, which paid $518 million for the license, plans to establish a $150 million floating casino property in Rosemont.
