Slots measure could receive a fresh slate - 2004-03-22
A solid Philadelphia senator Monday signaled his openness to omit the key stumbling block that could lead to legalizing slots and slashing property taxes.
Sen. Vincent Fumo, ranking Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, stated he is near to abandoning his insistence that a slot license be set aside for American Indians.
That could pave the path for eventual authorization of a plan to legalize slots at eight horse racing tracks and four parlors, including one in downtown Pittsburgh.
