A Delta lawmaker's pitch today for his $211 million tax bill didn't fall on deaf ears at the Capitol.
"Our industry objects to tax increases to fix budget problems," Richard stated after the meeting. Mississippi's 29 casinos that hire 33,000 people paid $327 million in direct taxes last year, and the number rises to $500 million annually when counting all the funds going into the revenue stream, he explained.
