Landmark Binion's Horseshoe to relaunch next month in Vegas - 2004-03-03
The legendary Binion's Horseshoe hotel-casino will relaunch April 1 after gambling legislators hurriedly licensed the property's new owner Wednesday.
MTR owns Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort in Chester, W.Va., and the Speedway Casino at the Ramada Inn in North Las Vegas.

Under the settlement, Harrah's will maintain the rights to the lucrative Horseshoe name and the World Series of Poker. The 35th annual poker competition is planned to start next month at Binion's Horseshoe.

Bill aspires to unplug slot machines - 2004-03-03
Two Republican legislators Wednesday proposed closing down roughly 20,000 slot machines in 18 Indian casinos across Minnesota unless tribes agree to divide their gambling profits with the state and with one another.

The new law comes four weeks after Gov. Tim Pawlenty declared it is time for non-Indian Minnesotans to get a "better deal" out of the casino monopoly the state's tribes have possessed for 15 years.
