Barrick Gaming announces major investment project - 2004-03-03
The state Gaming Control Board today suggested approval for Barrick Gaming Corp.'s acquiring of most of Jackie Gaughan's downtown Las Vegas real estate assets, including four hotel-casinos.

Barrick's $82 million agreement to purchase the Plaza, Las Vegas Club, Western and Gold Spike casinos from downtown gaming legend Jackie Gaughan was first publicized in December 2002.

Meskwakis looked into gambling boat, opted for expanded casino instead - 2004-03-03
Meskwaki spokespersons made an overture to advocates of a proposed gambling boat south of Waterloo in January to take over the project from Isle of Capri Casinos, multiple sources affirmed Tuesday.

The tribe withdrew from the concept and chose to expand its own casino instead, revealing a $150 million expansion of the Meskwaki Bingo-Casino-Hotel last week.
