Could a casino be coming to Bridgeport? - 2004-03-03
The founder of the Subway sandwich chain wants to bankroll a new casino in the city where he was raised, but some locals feel there will be winners and losers.
DeLuca is now gambling his money on a new casino for the city and feels Bridgeport cannot afford to turn away badly needed employment.

The tribe got that recognition and now the plan is to construct a casino in DeLuca's hometown.

Riverside activities top $21,000 at casino fundraiser - 2004-03-03
While roughly 200 people came out to the Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s casino fundraiser Saturday night at the Memorial Sports Centre, it was the charity that hit the jackpot, collecting over $21,000 for district health care with proceeds from that event and the “chair-ity” auction during the day.

Aside from ticket sales to the casino, and money generated through gambling with “fun” money, $8,300 was generated through the chair auctions, $2,600 was introduced by the “Luck of the Draw” raffle, and $2,000 collected through donations.
