Borgata Casino establishment paid its first penalties on Wednesday for two violations at the gaming tables. - 2004-03-04
The new Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa paid its primary regulatory penalties on Wednesday for two violations at the gaming tables.

On Aug. 3, a month after it debuted, Borgata refunded $15,000 to a blackjack player who complained after losing two hands of $20,000 blackjack, in which he was permitted to exceed the posted table maximum by $5,000 on individual hands. Borgata agreed to compensate $10,000 for the violation at Wednesday's Casino Control Commission meeting.

Here's something you may not be aware of: The next U.S. senator from Illinois could be an ex-Las Vegas gambler who's now worth millions. Or it could be law professor who has been compared to Howard Dean. Or a woman who's known, in part, for still twirling her baton in parades.

The one candidate who has received the most attention is Democrat Blair Hull, the ex-Vegas gambler. After departing the military and studying math and computer science, Hull joined a notorious blackjack card-counting ring in the 1970s, and he took the $25,000 he made from that and created a trading company.
