Details are under way for the establishment of a casino in Bridgeport. On Thursday, casino supporters tried to get some support at the State Capitol.
Maybe the most powerful opponent for the new Connecticut casino is the state's Attorney General. Richard Blumenthal claims the state has a lot to lose, including money, if a new casino arrives in town.

Pawlenty takes a hit at state shortfall - 2004-03-04
Health care, hospitals and nursing homes all would receive deeper cuts in a supplemental budget suggested by Gov. Tim Pawlenty on Thursday to eradicate the state's $160 million projected deficit.

The one kudo Johnson held out was Pawlenty's refusal to support non-Indian gambling as a method of increasing more revenue. Pawlenty stated Thursday that he remains in deliberations with the state's tribal leaders over Indian casino revenues and the state's relationship to its Indian community.
