London Knights fans were in for a shock at last Saturday's game. Ex-Knights goalie Gene Chiarello was present to address the crowd. Unfortunately, this was not the sort of welcome you would expect for a hockey great, because there were a few tears included.

Although solving the murder was one of the priorities of the evening, only one guest, Jeff Johnston, solved the case. The night of murder Las Vegas-style was hosted by Art Fidler, while Wendy Peters ran a tight ship in the charity casino that was crowded with blackjack dealers adorned in attire donated by Bud Gowan.

Bill seeks to unplug slots - 2004-03-04
Two Republican legislators Wednesday proposed closing roughly 20,000 slot machines in 18 Indian casinos across Minnesota unless tribes were in accord with sharing their gambling profits with the state and with one another.

Sviggum, R-Kenyon, stated he wants to push the Democratic-Farmer-Labor majority in the Senate to choose between two seemingly contradictory gaming bills: the endangerment to outlaw slots if tribes do not pay the state and a competing measure — passed last year in the House — that would permit Canterbury Park to launch a casino with slots and blackjack games.
