Constituents green light casino venture in Death Valley - 2004-03-05
Constituents in the Mojave Desert city of Hesperia, Calif., authorized a ballot measure this week that upholds a deal struck with the city last year permitting an Indian tribe in Death Valley to construct a casino.

If established, the casino would be one of the closest to Las Vegas and one of the first to be situated along I-15, the major artery feeding Las Vegas from California.

Rosemont, Ill., Casino Company Supports Lease - 2004-03-05
Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. agreed Thursday to pay over $4.7 million annually to lease a casino site and parking garage from Rosemont, striking a settlement the company hopes will increase the value of its proposal for the state's sole remaining casino license.

The settlement calls for Isle of Capri to pay over $1.5 million a year to lease the casino property, with the appropriate total depending on the amount of land the company needs. Isle of Capri would lease and run the garage for 25 years, paying Rosemont $3.2 million a year.
