Merrill Maintains 'Buy' on Argosy Gaming - 2004-03-05
Analyst David Anders claims performance at the Lawrenceburg riverboat casino in January (gaming revenue rose 17%) ran well ahead of his estimates, and he believes the trend sustained through February. For 2004, he had modeled in 2% same-casino revenue growth, which now is modified upward to 6%.

In addition, Anders states the newly remodeled and expanded Kansas City riverboat has been running ahead of his calculations.

Harrah's New Orleans Casino Intends Tower for Highrollers - 2004-03-05
Harrah's New Orleans Casino, which is one of the few casinos in the country that does not boast an adjoining hotel, will have a place to house its highrollers by 2006. The gaming company gained authorization from its board to start construction on a $142 million, 450-room hotel tower downtown.

"Harrah's is the only casino allowed in Downtown by law, and casino guests have had to stay in other hotels, " clarified Kim Priez, vice president of tourism at the New Orleans Visitors & Conventions Bureau.
