Casinos, amenities, among opportunities Monorail delivers - 2004-03-05
The Las Vegas Monorail has been touted as the most enhanced public transportation system in the country, able to significantly reduce local auto traffic and pollution.

That translates into a profitable source of tourist traffic for the eight casino resorts and 24,000 hotel rooms that will host monorail stops along a winding route east of the Las Vegas Strip.

The marketing prospects delivered by the monorail -- which will launch this spring -- haven't been lost on the casinos.

Tribal chair refutes conflict of interest by BIA workers - 2004-03-05
With two federal agencies probing into alleged conflicts of interest by Bureau of Indian Affairs regional officials, the chair of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians is refuting any favorable treatment from BIA officials who stood to see some advantage from their own actions and membership in the tribe.

The tribe now is attempting to construct a $100 million casino in Plymouth, gateway to one of California's thriving wine regions.
