Calif. tribe plan casino, require state agreement - 2004-03-05
Station Casinos Inc. stated on Friday that it had struck an agreement with a tribe in central California to construct a casino project worth some $225 million once the tribe bargains a gambling contract with the state and takes control of property held in trust by federal officials.
Station and the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians, a federally acknowledged group, plan to establish the gambling hall close to the town of Madera, which is roughly 25 miles north of Fresno and 130 miles east of San Jose.
