Federal authorities have convened with associates of the Coushatta Indian Tribe to provide assistance in restoring order to the tribe, which runs a profitable casino in southwestern Louisiana.
A leadership conflict has developed with one group of tribe associates claiming that tribal leader Lovelin Poncho resigned.
In the mid-1990s, the Coushattas constructed a casino-hotel that is a solid draw for Texas tourists.
The casino garners roughly 300 million dollars annually in gambling revenue.
