Tribal chair refuses to admit any conflict of interest - 2004-03-06
With two federal agencies probing into alleged conflicts of interest by Bureau of Indian Affairs regional officials, the chair of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians is refusing to admit any favorable treatment from BIA officials who stood to benefit from their own actions and association in the tribe.

The tribe now is looking to construct a $100 million casino in Plymouth, gateway to one of California's thriving wine regions.

Charges increase for accused robber - 2004-03-06
A probationer taken into custody in connection with a local armed robbery allegedly confessed to investigators to committing five additional crimes and is facing various felony counts.

They found the defendant's truck at the Hawaiian Gardens Casino, where Chastain was gambling, Mercado stated. Molinar and Radcliff waited for the 31-year-old to come out of the casino, then took him into custody, the detective reported.
