Drilling measure misplaced in sea of doubt - 2004-03-06
Joe Sims, president of the U.S. Oil & Gas Association, revealed a statement distancing his association from Marvin L. Oxley while continuing to back the offshore drilling legislation:

A bill urged heavily by oil and gas interests that could lead to drilling in the Mississippi Sound is probably dead in the House, with some associates of the Legislative Black Caucus, chairmen of at least three solid committees, the casino and tourism trades, environmentalists and others lining up against it.

Ranger brings split decision - 2004-03-06
BackTalk callers this week were almost evenly split on whether to transfer the mothballed aircraft carrier USS Ranger to Tacoma as the centerpiece of a privately funded museum.

"Another great idea from the Tacoma City Council. Just what we need on the waterfront - another museum. Maybe they can turn it into another gambling casino, restaurant or how about a skating rink. The possibilities are endless."
