`Errors' scheduled in Vegas: A concept gone too far - 2004-03-07
It's a clever idea, setting "The Comedy of Errors" in a Las Vegas casino; and it's cleverly executed as far as sets, costumes, lighting and action go. And the two - make that four - lead characters are incredible in this early Shakespeare farce regarding two sets of separated twins.

Using huge hanging/flipping/sliding flats, a staircase, some mirrors and a turntable with a dangerous palm tree, scenic designer William Bloodgood has designed a casino set that allows the story to flow at a good clip.

Claude Monet stands there and stares you in the eye. He's old, with a long, white, patriarch's beard. Seen in his infamous garden, he seems prepared to step out of an almost life- size picture on the wall, suffused with authority and serenity and wearing the mantle of high art.

But art, both classic and contemporary, is becoming simple to discover in Las Vegas, which now exhibits world-class work, particularly paintings, in galleries, museums and, yes, hotel-casinos.
