Tribe purchases property to construct casino close to Shullsburg - 2004-03-08
The Lac du Flambeau band of Chippewa, betting it will win the required approvals, stated Monday that it acquired 92.7 acres to construct a casino resort just west of Shullsburg.
The tribe paid James and Pam Paquette roughly $320,000 for the property along Highway 11 just west of the city of 1,200 in Lafayette County, stated the tribe's lawyer, Carol Brown.

Shullsburg locals supported a casino resort in a referendum last April. The matter obtained almost 88 percent of the vote, passing 540-79.

Greektown Casino reinstates key CEO - 2004-03-08
Long-time gaming manager Craig Ghelfi is the new CEO at Detroit’s Greektown Casino, which reported a $2.3-million drop in revenues last year on gaming receipts of $325.3 million.
Each of Detroit’s three casino plan to construct bigger gaming facilities, along with 400-room hotels, added stores, restaurants and entertainment space in the coming months. The casinos are awaiting clearance to commence construction from a federal judge who is examining a proposed settlement stemming from how city officials initially granted casino licenses.
