Sponsors claim gambling bill won't succeed - 2004-03-08
The House sponsor of legislation to introduce casino gambling to Kentucky stated Monday it's unlikely to pass throughout this session of the General Assembly.
Speaker Pro Tem Larry Clark claimed he met with horse racing trade officials Monday afternoon and they could not agree on a plan.

Casino gambling would be a windfall for the state that could bring in over $437 million annually, Clark has explained.

Most recent riverboat bid revealed - 2004-03-08
The Des Moines River corridor that’s being renovated is the perfect place for a riverboat casino in Fort Dodge, a gaming executive reported to the city council Monday.

The latest plan revealed by Kehl Management Inc., an Iowa-based riverboat operator, asks for placing the floating casino on the river, close to downtown.
The new plan also calls for an aquatics center, an idea that has arisen as city officials seek suggestions on how to fix or replace the two aging municipal pools.
