Mexico reveals money-laundering probe in video scandals - 2004-03-09
Mexican prosecutors have initiated a federal money-laundering probe based on the most recently aired video tapes demonstrating Mexico City officials gambling in casinos or accepting huge amounts of cash, Attorney General Rafael Macedo de la Concha reported Tuesday.

Another tape demonstrates Ponce playing blackjack and squandering money lavishly in Las Vegas. Lopez Obrador fired Ponce after investigators reported he could be connected to a US$3 million embezzlement investigation. Ponce, like Ahumada, has disappeared.
